OpenProj and Lemote YeeLoong

Episode 8 - OpenProj, Linux.com, Ekiga, and Safecopy are this week's new releases. Our discussion topics include an FSF-approved GNU/Linux distro called BLAG, the Lemote YeeLoong netbook, talking about free software, Librivox.org, Ad Bard and Snowy.

OpenProj is a free software tool for project management and is a replacement for Microsoft Project and other project management tools.

Linux.com has been upgraded to a full social network website for GNU/Linux users and developers. We started our own group there.

Ekiga has a new version out. We talked about a feature we'd like to see: a more prominent buddy list to make calling buddies easier.

Safecopy is a file recovery tool that works on many types of media. Hope we don't have to use it!

BLAG is a free software GNU/Linux distribution with a notable set of Firefox bookmarks built-in. The project is on a bit of a hiatus but we're looking forward to future developments.

The Lemote YeeLoong is a unique netbook in that it's based on a MIPS architecture and runs 100% free software from the bios to the applications. A little pricey but in active development in free software circles.

We share a notable post describing the origins of the free software movement and it doesn't mention the founder's name!

Librivox.org is your source for public domain spoken audio files. Participants in the project record themselves reading works so the rest of us can enjoy them on the road, on the trail, or anywhere quiet enough to listen.

Ad Bard is a new free software focused ad network with nearly 1,000,000 monthly impressions just a couple days after launch. You can advertise your free software related product through the network or help grow it by placing their ads on your website.

Snowy is an AGPL-licensed project that synchronizes data from your local Tomboy installation to a central or your own web server. Gnote support coming soon?

Download the OGG or MP3 audio files.
